Membership Requirements- We welcome any woman who is no less than eighteen years of age and who can prove lineal, bloodline descent from an ancestor who aided in achieving American Independence during the period between 19 April 1775 and 26 November 1783. She must provide documentation for each statement of birth, marriage, and death. The DAR offers many opportunities for service, such as working with our youth through the educational programs sponsored by the NSDAR. It encourages members to get involved in their communities and to assist with historic preservation. It promotes the preservation of family and local histories. It provides the opportunity to meet new people with similar interests, and to develop friendships with others who enjoy promoting the ideals of patriotism and love of the country. It is a way to join with others in trying to make America a better place in which to live.
